CRAIG DILL

Craig Dill was a three-year starter for Saginaw Arthur Hill High School’s varsity basketball team (1961-63).  At 6’11” he led the Lumberjacks to a Class A state semifinal finish his senior season before losing in a one-point game.  Dill received All-State and All-America honors, averaging 28.5 points-per-game his senior season.  He accepted a scholarship to the University of Michigan after receiving a total of 30 major college offers. Dill played three seasons for the wolverines and was the starting center his junior and senior seasons.  He was co-captained for the University of Michigan his senior season (1967) and averaged 19.6 points-per-game.  He was named second team All-Big Ten his senior year and voted the teams’ Most Valuable Player.  Dill was drafted in the fourth round (11th pick, 42nd overall) of the 1967 NBA Draft by the San Diego Rockets[3] but opted instead to play for the Pittsburgh Pipers of the American Basketball Association.  Dill was a member of the 1967-68 Pittsburgh Pipers team that won the 1968 ABA Championship.  During that season Dill averaged 6.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.  Craig Dill was inducted into the Saginaw Arthur Hill High School’s Letterwinner’s Hall of Fame in 1972.
