Lakisha Freeman Parker

Quickness, athleticism together with her Basketball skill made her one of the top recruits in the nation.

Born in Saginaw, the youngest of (3) kids. Lakisha was born to military parents David Freeman Sr (Marines) and Mom, Linda (U.S. Army). There was no “slacking” in the Freeman Home! Her parents affectionately nicknamed her Ki-Ki.

She started her basketball journey at the Saginaw YMCA playing co-ed basketball with her brother David Jr. “The Rest is History!”

It was onto Arthur Hill High School to play for SCSHOF Hall of Fame Coach Vonnie Kilme. At Arthur Hill, Freeman was a pure standout and made her mark with a hall of fame level high school career. While playing at Arthur Hill as a four year starter from 2000 to 2004, she achieved an incredible number of accolades:

  • 4 year team MVP.
  • Saginaw News Dream Team (3) Consecutive Years (2001-2004).
  • 1st Team Saginaw Valley League (4) Consecutive Years.
  • 1st Team All-State (Detroit News and Detroit Free Press) her junior and senior years (2003, 2004).
  • Motor City Roundball Classic MVP (2001)
  • Lady Roundball Invitational MVP (2002).
  • Schoolcraft Invitational MVP (2003).
  • Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan All Star (2004) 1st Team (2004) All State.
  • McDonalds All-American (2004).
  • Invited to Adidas and Nike All American Camp
  • 4th Runner-up to Michigan Miss Basketball

Aside from achievements on the court, Freeman was also a very dedicated student, serving on the Arthur Hill Student Council as a secretary from 2003 to 2004 and being a member of the National Honor Society.

After Graduating from Arthur Hill Lakisha continued her basketball endeavors at the college level. With offers from  Indiana, Notre Dame, Purdue, and Iowa, Freeman ultimately chose to become a Boilermaker and signed on with Purdue.
